Adopt VENUS

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Hello everyone, I am VENUS! At just 2 years old, my life hasn't been easy. I arrived at the shelter from the friends pound, and no one came to get me; it seems Malinois are currently the trend of abandoning dogs on the streets. Anyway, let's get to the serious stuff, which is me! I am a sweet, lively pup, and I'll need an active home while still enjoying a nice family life. Remember that a Malinois requires both physical and mental stimulation, and it will be a significant expense. I'll need a home without young children and without other pets (my previous adoptions have always been due to my conflicts with other dogs). As proof, I unfortunately bit my adopter when she tried to separate us during a fight with her dog. That's what they call a collateral damage! As a result, the veterinarian classified me as 2/4 during my behavioral evaluation. Let's meet soon!. This animal is not suitable for homes with young children. This animal is for adult-only homes. This animal needs to be the only pet in the home.

About VENUS

What life with VENUS looks like

VENUS is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SPA Le Mans (Yvré-L'Évêque).

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Behavioral evaluation 2/4, history of biting during dog fight intervention, requires active household without other animals or young children

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting VENUS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about VENUS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Le Mans (Yvré-L'Évêque) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw VENUS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt VENUS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Le Mans (Yvré-L'Évêque) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is VENUS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if VENUS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Le Mans (Yvré-L'Évêque) early rather than rehoming privately; they know VENUS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
