Vermittlungshilfe

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Luna is a small, energetic and very people-oriented mixed breed dog, approximately 22 cm tall and 12 kg in weight, born in April 2016. She was originally rescued as a puppy from the streets of Spain. Luna is currently located in Schöffengrund-Laufdorf, Germany. Due to her owner's severe illness, a new home is urgently needed for her. Luna is relaxed in everyday life, house-trained, can stay alone for several hours and travels well by car. However, she is very reserved, unsure and actively seeks isolation from strangers and children, and should not be forced into contact. As she has had little contact with other dogs for years and does not know cats, animal encounters must be moderated with caution and at a safe distance. Luna has a strong urge to pull on the leash, pulls noticeably and tends to pant and occasional cough in stressful situations. Additionally, she takes her role as a small watchdog very seriously: she is highly attentive to the smallest sounds and reports them loudly, which is why her new home should be in a rural area and barking should not be a problem. Luna is healthy and not limited. Several years ago, she had a comprehensive dental treatment due to periodontitis, resulting in the removal of several teeth, which has fully healed. According to the EU pet passport, she has two small inguinal hernias since birth, which are completely unremarkable and should not be operated on according to the veterinarian. Luna is looking for a quiet household for seniors or single individuals without small children who can provide her with the necessary security and clear orientation. She is microchipped and has up-to-date vaccinations.

About Vermittlungshilfe

What life with Vermittlungshilfe looks like

Vermittlungshilfe is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vermittlungshilfe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vermittlungshilfe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vermittlungshilfe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vermittlungshilfe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vermittlungshilfe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vermittlungshilfe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vermittlungshilfe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
