Viada

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Affectionate and socializing Viada would like to leave the shelter (713 days shelter) Viada already found homes over a decade ago, but in the summer of 2024, she returned to the shelter because the arrival of children in the homes caused her a lot of stress. The kittens brought a lot of changes, and it was hoped that none had been made, and the kitten had lost everything that decades of living with Viada had taught her. Returning to the shelter Viadai was very difficult. At first, the kitten refused to eat or socialize with us. Her heart was closed, the kitten lay in a corner, exhausted and panting, it was heartbreaking to see… Thankfully, over time, Viada began to trust us and gradually started to live again. That's why she has been at the shelter for already 2 years. Most likely because Viada is not a kitten of her first youth – she is almost 10 years old now. People often hesitate to adopt her, hearing her age, because Viada is a particularly gentle, friendly, affectionate kitten who loves to be stroked and enjoys playing with toy mice on a string. Another reason why Viadai cannot find a home is that the kitten clearly shows her limitations. At a certain point, it became clear that Viada claws (often retracted, so she doesn't cause any harm)

About Viada

What life with Viada looks like

Viada is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at SOS Gyvūnai in Šalčininkų r. sav..

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Frequently asked

Adopting Viada, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Viada?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS Gyvūnai handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Viada on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Viada if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS Gyvūnai will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Viada already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Viada isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS Gyvūnai early rather than rehoming privately; they know Viada and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
