Adopt VICKY

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Breed: HSH-mixed breed Project: Greece/Larissa Gender: female Age: born 2015/2016 Size: large Weight: approx. 30 kg (as of 17.11.2024) Other: very friendly female dog, very social and playful with other dogs, despite her age, she has a lot of energy, to be placed in experienced hands Current location: Animal shelter in Greece/Larissa VICKY's story VICKY is one of the best old souls that the shelter in Larissa has ever had – and she deserves the best family! 💛 Her story began in October 2023 when she was found helpless in the grass. The villagers thought she had been hit by a car, but our vet found no broken bones, only muscle wastage and a serious illness. We didn't know what the future held for VICKY … but then the miracle happened! 🙏 One day, she suddenly stood up and wagged her tail! With lots of love and medical care, she recovered. Today, VICKY is a happy, calm female dog who loves the company of people, plays with other dogs (her best friend is VALENTINO 🐾), and enjoys snuggling in her warm bed. This is a current and recent assessment of VICKY. How she will behave in the future, especially after moving into a new home, we cannot predict. Every animal, like us humans, will change and continue to develop. But with the right, patient, and loving guidance, VICKY will surely become a faithful companion. Whether and to what extent typical herding dog behavior is present in mixed breeds cannot be said with certainty. That's why VICKY is only suitable for experienced hands! VICKY is microchipped, vaccinated, treated for endo- and ectoparasites, neutered, and she will be retested for so-called Mediterranean diseases before travel arrangements, and she is ready for her forever home. 🏡 VICKY – the wonderful senior dog is looking for her people. Who will give this brave dog lady her happy ending?

Rasse: HSH-Mischling Projekt: Griechenland/Larissa Geschlecht: weiblich Alter: geb. 🍀

About VICKY

What life with VICKY looks like

VICKY is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. in Bamberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting VICKY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about VICKY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw VICKY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt VICKY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is VICKY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if VICKY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know VICKY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
