Adopt Victor

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile: Age: Born around 2019 Gender: male neutered: yes Character: very shy Size: approx. 40 cm In shelter since: June 2020 Siblings: Brother Oskar H (Mother Peaches – already relocated) Hello, I am Victor, yes, the one who would hide behind my braver brother Oskar at the first opportunity. I’ve managed to do that well so far. Behind my more daring brother and my buddies, I feel most comfortable. I would love to be invisible. But now, my caretakers say that I deserve a better home and need someone to help me adjust to real life. That’s why I’m making my debut here today. In the shelter, I can’t bring myself out. That much is certain. The enclosure walls don’t allow for nice walks, exciting outings, and there are simply not enough opportunities to get used to people. Moments of attention are always too short, as there are so many here who want to be fed and stroked. That I don’t know life in a family, you can imagine. The stairs, house and garden noises, walking on a leash, and much more unsettle me for sure. If you are ready to show me all these things with time and patience and give me a place in your heart, I will orient myself to you and do my best to master the challenges! Of course, a confident only dog could help. If you are interested in Victor, please fill out our interest form or send us an email or a message on Facebook. Victor is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Victor has been taken over by Jamie F., and thus ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Victor

What life with Victor looks like

Victor is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Victor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Victor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Victor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Victor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Victor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Victor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Victor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
