Vikija

Female · Young · 2 years

Vikija: 2 years (2023). Chip number - 900163000325795. Mixed breed, country of origin - Latvia. Health status - no health problems observed. Additional information: short-haired, vaccinated, spayed. Vikija was found abandoned with her brother Vokers as puppies in the village of Vīpe, Jēkabpils district, on the road. Vikija is a very active girl who needs training and discipline to channel her energetic spirit into the right direction, learn self-control and obey. Vikija is medium-sized, very charismatic dog girl and will be a reliable friend once she learns discipline. When meeting strangers, Vikija naturally enjoys attention, but fear mixes with excitement and the girl does not always manage to control her emotions and behave obediently. Walking on a leash is not Vikija's favorite activity. Currently, Vikija is learning basic skills with a canine specialist, which would go more successfully if the potential owner who wants to adopt Vikija would participate in these sessions. We are looking for a responsible owner and a good home for Vikija, where she will be properly cared for, not left alone and trained. Information updated 02.08.2024. Information added 16.03.2026.

Vecums: 2 gadi (2023.g.)

About Vikija

What life with Vikija looks like

Vikija is a young adult dog waiting at Jēkabpils Dzīvnieku Patversme in Latvia.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

Frequently asked

Adopting Vikija, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vikija?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jēkabpils Dzīvnieku Patversme handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vikija on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vikija if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jēkabpils Dzīvnieku Patversme will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vikija already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vikija isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jēkabpils Dzīvnieku Patversme early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vikija and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
