Vinny

Chihuahua · Male · Puppy · 11 months

Vinny is looking for a kind and understanding family who can help him settle into home life at his own pace. He may take a little while to come out of his shell, but the reward is a loving and affectionate companion who enjoys spending time with his favourite people. As a young dog, Vinny still has plenty of puppy enthusiasm and would benefit from continued training and positive experiences to help build his confidence. He'll need leaving time kept to a minimum when he first arrives home, with any time spent alone introduced gradually as he settles in. Vinny is an adorable 11-month-old Chihuahua crossbreed with a sweet nature and lots of potential. He can be a little nervous when meeting new people or finding himself in unfamiliar situations, but with a bit of patience and reassurance, his true personality soon starts to shine. Once he's comfortable, Vinny's playful puppy side comes out and you'll see a fun-loving youngster who enjoys being part of the action. Vinny could live with primary-school-aged children who can understand that he may need a little time to build confidence. He could also potentially live with another suitable dog following successful meets at the centre.

About Vinny

What life with Vinny looks like

Vinny is a puppy/kitten chihuahua dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury in Telford.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vinny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vinny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shrewsbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vinny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vinny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Shrewsbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vinny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vinny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shrewsbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vinny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
