** Please note the ‘Contact for Availability’ function is currently not working. Please email the Rescue direct () if you are enquiring about an animal and include the animal’s name ** Violet’s story is a heart-breaking one as she was sadly dumped outside one of our charity shops with her four kittens, all of whom were in a very poor state. The kittens were malnourished and suffering from sore eyes, while Violet herself was thin, exhausted, and understandably withdrawn. Despite everything she had been through, she proved to be a devoted and attentive mother. With the care of our Rescue team and vets, Violet’s kittens soon gained weight, recovered from their health issues, and all went on to find loving homes. Sadly, it was then discovered that Violet was already heavily pregnant again. She gave birth to another litter while in our care and, once again, has been nothing short of a wonderful mum. After many months of raising kittens and recovering herself, Violet’s second litter have now found homes of their own. At last, it is Violet’s turn! Violet is a shy and gentle girl who will need a patient and understanding home. She is not the sort of cat who will immediately seek out attention, but once she feels safe, she happily accepts gentle strokes and affection. We do not know what kind of life Violet had before coming to us, but it is clear she has not always been shown the kindness she deserves. Beneath her cautious nature is a sweet cat who simply needs time, security, and someone willing to let her settle at her own pace. We believe Violet could potentially live with a calm cat or a quiet, cat-friendly dog. She may also be able to live with older, sensible children who understand the importance of giving her space. After spending so much of her young life caring for others, Violet is finally ready for a home where she can be cared for herself. About Violet

What life with Violet looks like

Violet is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Violet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Violet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Violet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Violet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Violet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Violet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO early rather than rehoming privately; they know Violet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
