Vionella

Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

We are looking for a home for the small Vionella! We introduce you to Vionella, a delicate soul who is just waiting to discover how beautiful the world can be outside the bars of a dog shelter. Vionella is a unique small female dog, not only for her very sweet appearance, but also for her extreme sensitivity. Among her siblings, she is the most timid and worried; the noise of the world still scares her a bit and she often seeks the animal shelter under the bench in her enclosure, watching everything with her big hopeful eyes. She is the only one in the litter with very nice upright ears that give her an always attentive look. She was born at the beginning of the year and is a small to medium size, with short legs. She has a slight physical characteristic (mandibular retrognathism), which does not prevent her from living a normal life, but makes her, if possible, even more tender and in need of love. Vionella is gentle, shy and reserved. For her, we are looking for a patient family, capable of respecting her pace and guiding her gently in the discovery of trust in humans. Vionella needs a home where patience is the rule and where a soft couch can replace that cold bench under which she hides today.

About Vionella

What life with Vionella looks like

Vionella is a small puppy/kitten dog waiting at Associazione ALFA in Roma.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vionella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vionella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associazione ALFA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vionella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vionella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associazione ALFA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vionella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vionella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associazione ALFA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vionella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
