Vitál

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Vitál, was taken into our care with the help of Babák Menedék Animal Protection Foundation, a small-sized male dog, a prizefighter type, with a dachshund leg, born around January 2022. They were found near Sajórád. They were thrown out together with a companion. It was impossible to catch the companion, but this little quirky type literally lay down in front of their car. His skin is inflamed and hairless and one of his legs is suspiciously bent, even compared to a dachshund leg, so we will take him for a medical examination soon. We would very much like Vitál to show what a real happy dog's life is like, where he can be an active member of the family and participate in common activities (excursions, walking). Vitál is microchipped, vaccinated and available for adoption after being neutered.

About Vitál

What life with Vitál looks like

Vitál is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Inflamed skin with hair loss and one leg appears abnormally curved, awaiting veterinary examination

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vitál, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vitál?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vitál on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vitál if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vitál already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vitál isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vitál and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
