A tiny, lonely kitten was discovered by THW workers during pruning of bushes at the THW Apolda local association grounds in May. The workers immediately responded and lovingly cared for the little find while we from the Animal Welfare Association Apolda were alerted. Our emergency personnel arrived promptly and thoroughly searched the area again - with great success: We discovered two more siblings! But that was not all: To ensure the mother wasn't left behind, a live trap was set up in the evening. And sure enough - the next morning she was safely inside. Now the little family is finally reunited on our foster care facility! The current status: The veterinarian has examined the trio. The best news: All three are healthy and well! They are two sweet girls and a small tomcat. Their age at discovery was estimated to be about three weeks old. Now they can grow up safely with their mom in a protected environment. Our wish list for the future: Although the little ones still need some time to grow, we are already looking for the perfect families for life. The kittens will not be placed in single housing (preferably two together or with a suitable young cat). After castration they look forward to secure outdoor access or a cat-proof balcony.

Manchmal schreibt das Leben die schönsten Geschichten! Im Mai fanden auf dem Gelände des THW-Ortsverbandes Apolda Grünpflegearbeiten statt. Beim Zurückschneiden der Sträucher machten die Arbeiter eine herzzerreißende Entdeckung: Ein winziges, einsames Katzenbaby saß im Gebüsch! Die Helferinnen und Helfer des THW reagierten sofort und kümmerten sich liebevoll um den kleinen Fundling, während parallel wir vom Tierschutzverein Apolda alarmiert wurden. Unsere Einsatzkräfte rückten sofort an und suchten das Gelände noch einmal gründlich ab – mit riesigem Erfolg: Wir entdeckten zwei weitere Geschwisterchen! Doch damit nicht genug: Um auch die Mama nicht zurückzulassen, stellten wir am Abend eine Lebendfalle auf. Und siehe da – am nächsten Morgen saß die Mama wohlbehalten darin. Nun ist die kleine Familie endlich wieder glücklich vereint auf unserer Pflegestelle! Der aktuelle Stand: Der Tierarzt hat das Trio untersucht. Die beste Nachricht: Alle drei sind gesund und wohlauf! Es handelt sich um zwei süße Mädchen und einen kleinen Kater. Ihr Alter wurde beim Fund auf etwa drei Wochen geschätzt. Nun dürfen sie erst einmal behütet und in Sicherheit bei ihrer Mama aufwachsen. Unser Wunschzettel für die Zukunft: Auch wenn die Kleinen noch ein bisschen Zeit zum Wachsen brauchen, suchen wir schon jetzt nach den perfekten Familien auf Lebenszeit. Die Kitten werden nicht in Einzelhaltung vermittelt (gerne zu zweit, zusammen oder zu einer passenden Jungkatze).Nach der Kastration freuen sie sich über gesicherten Freigang oder einen katzensicheren Balkon.
