Vuk

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Vuk is 10 years old and his story is one of those that are difficult to tell. He has spent his entire life in a shelter. He never had a home, a person, or the opportunity to experience all the wonderful things that a dog's life can offer. And then everything changed. Vuk came to our shelter and now he goes on regular walks. Everything is new to him. Every smell, every moment, every new sight. And he enjoys everything like a little puppy. As if he's trying to make up for everything he missed. Vuk loves people, he's good with other dogs and he's incredibly gentle and affectionate. It's hard to see how much he enjoys the ordinary things that are so normal to us, but were inaccessible to him his whole life. Vuk has been waiting for ten years. We don't want him to spend the rest of his life behind shelter fences. He deserves his home, his bed, his people, peaceful walks and the feeling that he's finally someone's. Vuk is finally ready to live. ❤️

HR·Show original

About Vuk

What life with Vuk looks like

Vuk is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Azil Dubrovnik in Croatia.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇭🇷Adopting from Croatia

Croatian shelters include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID in the adoption process. Several work with Italian and German rescue networks for placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vuk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vuk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Azil Dubrovnik handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vuk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vuk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Azil Dubrovnik will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vuk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vuk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Azil Dubrovnik early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vuk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
