Adopt Wafel

Mixed Breed · Male

Wafel is a 7-year-old, adorable bachelor who came under the care of Ekostraż in late 2022. Although everyone who meets him can't understand how it's possible - Wafel is still waiting for his permanent home... He is a dog with a big heart and an open mind - he quickly adapts to new conditions and quickly gets along with people. He loves human company, willingly snuggles up, is gentle with children, and especially likes teenagers. He spends his days in a temporary home where he has lived both with a female dog and cats - he is extremely gentle and calm towards cats. He loves long walks, during which he curiously explores the surroundings, and upon returning he most often sleeps on the couch... because with Waffle, he is also a true connoisseur of lounging. Loneliness at home is difficult for him - but this is something that can and should be worked on. This is a dog who will bring a lot of warmth, devotion, and joy into the life of his caregiver. Wafel is neutered, vaccinated, and ready to finally find his place on earth. Maybe it's with you?

Read original (pl)

About Wafel

What life with Wafel looks like

Wafel is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wafel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wafel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wafel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wafel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wafel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wafel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wafel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
