Wafelek

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Wafelek has been with us for over a year. For a long time, he wandered around the local village, eating leftovers left behind the local store. He was afraid of people and didn't approach anyone. We managed to catch him in a trap - a paw. Since then, Wafelek has been at the animal shelter. The beginning was not easy, the dog hid in the shed, was afraid of the staff and volunteers. For several months, he didn't leave his crate. Hard work by the people made Wafel start opening up more to the world. Now he has company in the form of two dogs, with whom he gets along very well. He is increasingly approaching people, willingly takes treats from their hand and even allows a moment of "slobbering" under the hat :) We are looking for a home for a patient person, with a big heart for abused animals. A home where there is another dog that will help Wafel socialize.

PL·Show original

About Wafelek

What life with Wafelek looks like

Wafelek is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Krotoszyn in Krotoszyn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wafelek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wafelek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Krotoszyn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wafelek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wafelek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Krotoszyn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wafelek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wafelek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Krotoszyn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wafelek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
