Wasabi

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Young · 3 years

18-06-26 Wasabi has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is a sweet little girl who is finding everything quite overwhelming at the moment, but she is trying so hard to be brave. She already seems to seek out fuss and attention, but then becomes quite worried, so will need lots of love and TLC as she learns that human hands can be kind. Wasabi will be looking for a calm and quiet home where she can settle in at her own pace. She relies heavily on other dogs for company and comfort and absolutely adores playing with her kennel friends. We have seen her gain confidence from being around them, so she will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help reassure her and show her the ropes. She can live with older, dog savvy-teens aged 16+ who allow her time to settle in at her own pace. As Wasabi has never lived in a home before, her adopters will need to be understanding and patient as she learns all about home life. She will need help with house training and will also need to learn how to walk on a lead and harness. Everything will be new to her, so she will need adopters who are around most of the time initially and who are happy to take things slowly, allowing her to progress at a pace she is comfortable with. Wasabi is a lovely little girl and although she is worried at present, we know that with time, kindness and the support of her doggy friend, she will flourish into a devoted and happy companion. She has arrived with us already missing some of her upper incisors and had some missing fur, which should hopefully grow back once she is spayed. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Wasabi

What life with Wasabi looks like

Wasabi is a young adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wasabi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wasabi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wasabi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wasabi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wasabi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wasabi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wasabi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
