Adopt Wasyl

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Wasyl is an extraordinary dog who has gone through many difficulties in his life. Once he was chained, survived the death of a caregiver, wars and homelessness... However, Wasyl is a dog with an unbreakable spirit. Despite the difficult experiences in his life, he remained calm and gentle. On a leash he moves without any problem, showing that he gladly accompanies his caregiver on walks. In the crate he keeps it clean, likes to play with toys. Wasyl was with our volunteer "on trial" at home, where he feels great and finds himself. Wasyl does not chase cats, and should get along with the resident cat after proper introduction. He works with volunteers on communication with other dogs, sometimes he barks at a dog on a walk, but he also has his canine friends in the shelter with whom he gets along. After proper introduction, he should get along with the resident dog. It should be emphasized that Wasyl is exceptionally friendly towards people. His heart is full of love, and he gladly gives kisses to those (see gallery) who open their hearts to him. Wasyl is vaccinated and dewormed, weighs 23 kg, has had a tumor removed from the spleen, but is healthy, neutered, and is about 5 years old. In Ekostraż:

Wasyl to wyjątkowy psiak, który przeszedł przez wiele trudności w swoim życiu. Kiedyś był uwięziony na łańcuchu, przeżył śmierć opiekuna, wojne i tułaczke… Jednak Wasyl to pies o niezłomnym duchu. Mimo trudnych przejść w życiu, pozostał spokojnym i łagodnym stworzeniem.

About Wasyl

What life with Wasyl looks like

Wasyl is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wasyl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wasyl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wasyl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wasyl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wasyl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wasyl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wasyl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
