Watson und Moriaty

Male · Kitten · 3 months

Watson and Moriaty are looking for a home together. Watson and Moriaty came to our shelter as wild, very shy kittens at about 10 weeks old. At first, the two were very afraid of humans. They probably hardly knew humans before and had to learn that there was no danger from us. Meanwhile, the two are in a foster home and are making slow but steady progress. Each of them is going his own way. Watson is the more cautious of the two. He is very sensitive to noise and still gets startled often. However, when it is quiet and he can relax, he already shows his cuddly side. He even enjoys cuddling with his trusted caregiver now. Watson also really enjoys playing and is quite enthusiastic about tasty treats. Moriaty, on the other hand, is his complete opposite: He is brave, adventurous, and likes to conquer and investigate everything. He is no longer afraid of familiar people and is curious about them. However, at the moment, he only lets himself be touched during feeding. Moriaty cannot be bribed with treats at all - he finds playing much more exciting! The two brothers get along very well and give each other security. That's why we would like to place them together. We are looking for a patient home for Watson and Moriaty, where they can gain trust and develop their different characters at their own pace. Since both came to us as wild kittens, we would like a home for them where they can be given the opportunity to go outside after a reasonable adjustment period. Whoever gives the two the necessary time, patience, and freedom will surely discover many beautiful sides of these two special cats. About Watson und Moriaty

What life with Watson und Moriaty looks like

Watson und Moriaty is a large puppy/kitten cat waiting at Tierheim Lüneburg in Lueneburg.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Watson und Moriaty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Watson und Moriaty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lüneburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Watson und Moriaty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Watson und Moriaty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lüneburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Watson und Moriaty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Watson und Moriaty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lüneburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Watson und Moriaty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
