adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Wenu can stay forever in his Romanian foster home! His story: Cluj, Romania. Wenu's name comes from the Mapuche Indian language and means "sky." Our little Wenu with the brown nose and fluffy standing ears is on the lookout for the sky on Earth, because his first few months of life must have been hell for the little guy. Wenu was found in a village and was not very mobile. He could only drag his hind legs behind him. It was determined that he had an old fracture in his spine, which had already calcified and not healed properly. One can hardly imagine how much he must have suffered, all alone. However, the orthopedist believes that there are some neural connections present, as Wenu is not incontinent. His mobility is getting better day by day, and with physiotherapy, Wenu is expected to be fully healed. Wenu is 40cm in size and counts as a medium-sized dog. At 8kg, however, he is still underweight. Currently, he lives in a foster home and is recovering from the hardships of his life on the streets. Wenu is a very friendly and affectionate dog. He loves people and is compatible with other dogs and cats. However, Wenu is on the lookout for his own family that will support him in his healing process and give him some time to settle in. Although he is no longer a puppy, he is still in the middle of puberty, so this should be taken into consideration and he should be lovingly but consistently raised. A visit to dog training classes and activities adapted to his mobility would certainly be a benefit for Wenu (and also for his new family 😉). Because he has his whole life ahead of him. Would you like to support Wenu in his further recovery, help him gain weight, and give him the love he so deserves? Wenu travels microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with his EU pet passport in his luggage and can be adopted for an adoption fee of 450 Euros, after a positive assessment. Even a foster home that supports his recovery would be a great help for Wenu. Thank you Caro B.! You have given Wenu this unique name and identity.

About Wenu

What life with Wenu looks like

Wenu is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wenu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wenu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wenu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wenu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wenu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wenu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wenu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
