Whisky und Peanut

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 2 years

Whisky (gray striped, born June/July 2024) and Peanut (black and white, born May 2024) already know each other, having been together since they were about four months old and forming a well-practiced team. Where one is, the other is not far. The two tomcats are inseparable and will therefore only be rehomed together. Despite their close friendship, their personalities could not be more different. Whisky, the elegant gray-striped observer, loves to watch the action from a high vantage point, preferably from the scratching post or balcony. He is initially reserved with people and needs some time to build trust. New situations and strangers unsettle him, so he often likes to hide at first. Whisky only cuddles with Peanut rarely, but when he does, it's only for a short time, while he prefers to snuggle with his best friend Peanut. In contrast, Peanut is the absolute cuddle cat. He seeks close contact with his people, snuggling under the blanket and enjoying being stroked on his belly or head. He is also a gifted "singer," especially when he's bored, looking for Whisky, or simply wanting to be with his people. Doors don't hold him back, as Peanut can open them. But don't worry: he only does this to come to you, not to cause trouble. He also needs a little time to build trust. When there's a knock at the door or unfamiliar voices, he hides at first but comes out curiously after a short while, once he realizes everything is okay. If he has someone's heart, he wants to be as close as possible. Especially at night, he seeks security and snuggles closely with his people. Both tomcats are playful, friendly, and simply a great team. They wish for a loving home with people who will give them time, patience, and affection. A cat-safe balcony would be especially dreamy for Whisky. They will only be rehomed in a suitable apartment living area within about 100 km of Cologne. Further information can be obtained via email, message on Facebook, or by phone.

Whisky (grau getigert, geb. About Whisky und Peanut

What life with Whisky und Peanut looks like

Whisky und Peanut is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. in Köln.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Whisky und Peanut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Whisky und Peanut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Whisky und Peanut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Whisky und Peanut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Whisky und Peanut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Whisky und Peanut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Whisky und Peanut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
