Whispy

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Adult · 7 years

19-06-26 Whispy is a beautiful girl who has come to us from a breeder and is truly heartbreaking to see. Since arriving, she has been incredibly shut down, and buries her face into the wall in the hope that nobody will notice her. She trembles when approached and can sometimes be a little grumbly, but this is simply because she is so frightened and overwhelmed by her surroundings. Whispy is looking for a calm, adult-only home with adopters who understand the needs of nervous ex-breeding dogs and are willing to give her all the time, patience and understanding she needs to settle and learn to trust. She will need at least one kind and confident resident dog who can take her under their wing and provide reassurance as she begins to build confidence. Having never lived in a home before, Whispy will need gentle support as she learns everything from house training to the routines of family life. At the moment, lead walking may feel far too daunting for her, so initially she may be happiest exploring a secure garden and enjoying gentle sniffing opportunities while she slowly discovers the world around her. Beneath her fears is a sweet little dog who simply needs someone to believe in her. With kindness, patience and a loving home, Whispy has every chance of learning that people can be trusted and that companionship can be a wonderful thing. Whispy has arrived with mammary lumps on the left side of her body that will be removed during her spay. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Whispy

What life with Whispy looks like

Whispy is a adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Whispy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Whispy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Whispy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Whispy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Whispy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Whispy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Whispy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
