Wil and Niki Drucken Published: July 12, 2026 Breed: EKH Age: 23.02.2023 Gender: female + male Neutered: yes Color: tricolor and black-white (Wil) Housing: previously apartment, outdoor access possible Wil(bur) and Niki were given up by their owner with a heavy heart. Their owner wishes them a better life than they can offer and therefore these two wonderful siblings are now looking for a new home. So far, the two have only known apartment living. However, if you live on the outskirts of town away from busy roads, you can also provide outdoor access or even a secure area after the acclimation period. Wilbur (as he is properly called) and Niki are still overwhelmed by their situation at our shelter but they show how affectionate they are and that they really like human closeness and especially petting. Wil is the bolder of the two. He was the first to explore the balcony and finds it very exciting what happens outside the four walls. As mentioned above, both are siblings. Their parents were also siblings, both developed normally. Niki taught himself how to open doors. This should be taken into account. Especially in the initial acclimation period, if the front door is directly accessible from the living room. Since their previous housing was limited to one room, it's possible that they no longer show a desire to open doors when they have more space and especially more human interaction. According to their former owner, they have problems with small children or children in general. Therefore, only teenagers or adults should live as family members or only adults should round out the new family. They also do not like dogs. Wil and Niki both enjoy being petted on their bellies and together make a great team. When Wil thaws, he is probably a little chatterbox. He explores his surroundings with curiosity

Dies sollte man unbedingt berücksichtigen.

About Wil und Niki

What life with Wil und Niki looks like

Wil und Niki is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wil und Niki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wil und Niki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wil und Niki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wil und Niki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wil und Niki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wil und Niki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wil und Niki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
