adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Wilhelmine has found her home! Her story: Wilhelmine is a striking black and white scruffy-furred female dog with intense amber eyes. At 45-50 cm in height and weighing 20-25 kg, she has a wonderful medium size. The young female dog, at about 2 years old, is in her prime. The confusions of puberty are already behind her, and she is ready to explore the world with her new family. Wilhelmine has a heart for everyone around her. She is an incredibly friendly and playful female dog who is also very patient and friendly with children. In other dogs, she sees potential playmates, and she also gets along well with cats. A true sunbeam, she will surely bring joy and love into her future family. Wilhelmine certainly has a lot to learn, and we wish for her a family that will give her the time to settle in and learn dog ABCs. The open and cheerful female dog would definitely enjoy going to positive working dog training classes. Wilhelmine has all the prerequisites to develop into a wonderful companion and will surely win the heart of her new family. If you want to give Wilhelmine as much love as she has to give, then feel free to contact us! Then she will hopefully soon tap into your life with her white paws. Wilhelmine travels neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated to her home and has her EU pet passport in her luggage. Also, a foster home would be wonderful. Many thanks, dear Mali, for giving Wilhelmine a beautiful name and thus the chance to find her family. Status: 13.03.

About Wilhelmine

What life with Wilhelmine looks like

Wilhelmine is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilhelmine, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilhelmine?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilhelmine on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilhelmine if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wilhelmine already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilhelmine isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilhelmine and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
