Willi & Roger

Unknown · Senior · 24 years

We are Willi and Roger and have unfortunately lost our wonderful home due to a death. Now we are looking for a great new "Influence Zone" together. This is us: We are a well-matched Grey Parrot duo, have lived as a pair since 2019 in a large outdoor aviary with a shelter house, and wish for exactly that again: plenty of space, fresh air, and daily interaction. Roger is a girl, very people-oriented, and actively seeks contact with the primary caregiver. Once she has gained trust, she will sit for hours on an arm or shoulder and chatter happily. If she receives too little attention, she can also pluck out of frustration. She loves company and enjoys observing what is happening around her, but reacts reservedly to strangers. Willi takes a bit longer to gain trust but then opens up and also likes to be on an arm. However, only if it is covered, as he cannot fly and needs better support. His aviary should be equipped with many branches so that he can do everything he wants. If he does fall, he can catch himself with a few wing beats. Willi is sick with Aspergillosis and has been successfully treated. Currently, the fungal infection is well under control. With proper feeding, fresh air, and good humidity, the illness can be stabilized, but can also flare up again. A high-quality environment with plenty of outdoor time is particularly important for him. Housing conditions: We are currently living in an outdoor aviary of about 3 x 6 meters with a shelter house of 2 x 4 meters.

About Willi & Roger

What life with Willi & Roger looks like

Willi & Roger is a large senior bird waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

Note from the shelter: Willi has aspergillosis (fungal disease) that requires high air quality, fresh air, and proper humidity. He cannot fly and needs branches in his enclosure for mobility.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Willi & Roger, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willi & Roger?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willi & Roger on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willi & Roger if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Willi & Roger already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willi & Roger isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willi & Roger and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
