Adopt Willi

Mixed Breed Cat · Male

Description The little Willi came from Romania like his siblings to Germany, after being found on the street there. His start in life was far from easy: he had a severely damaged eye. Without help, this little guy wouldn’t have stood a chance. The eye had to be removed, and even today, the area requires regular cleaning. Willi doesn’t like being rinsed at all, and after treatment, he often feels a bit offended and withdraws for one or two hours. Then, one can see how bravely he tries to endure everything, even though it clearly bothers him. Otherwise, he is a cheerful fellow who manages wonderfully with his missing eye, zips around the apartment, and enthusiastically participates in every mischief. This mix of vulnerability and resilience makes Willi so special. Despite everything he has experienced, he remains an incredibly sweet, little tomcat. He has learned to trust again—step by step. At first, he was shy and cautious, but he opened his heart. Today, he plays with great joy, runs around the apartment, climbs, rough-houses with his siblings, and is everywhere there is action. He even likes to lie in the dog bed with the dogs now and seeks the closeness of his people. When one looks at him, one immediately notices: this little guy just wants to be loved. He had no one—and now he longs for someone who will finally be there for him. Someone who sees not just his missing eye but his strength, his courage, his gentleness, and the big heart behind it. Willi has endured so much and yet never gave up. Who will open their heart for Willi and give this brave, one-eyed little guy the place he has been waiting for so long? Who will finally be there for him? Please note:

About Willi

What life with Willi looks like

Willi is a large adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Willi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Willi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
