Willi

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Willi is a neutered mixed breed dog born in March 2022, who was found on the street in a neighboring town and brought to the Serbian animal shelter in Svilos. He is now ready for adoption and is looking for loving people who will never leave him alone again. In addition to his strong need for cuddling, Willi also has a lively and active side. He is curious, playful and likes to be active. At the same time, he also shows that he can relax: in a relaxed environment, he behaves balanced and calm, making him suitable for both active adventures and cozy hours. Willi also has a certain sense of calmness, which makes him suitable for life in the city. Everyday stimuli do not easily upset him, so he can adapt well to different living situations, provided he receives enough stimulation and attention. We are looking for loving people who enjoy spending time together and going for walks. Willi not only wants to be physically stimulated, but above all wants to belong as a permanent family member. The height of the dog at the shoulder is approximately 38 cm and he weighs approximately 20 kg.

HU·Show original

About Willi

What life with Willi looks like

Willi is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Willi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Willi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
