Willow

Female · Young · 3 years

Willow will need a home with a secure garden where she can relax, explore at her own pace and feel safe as she settles into her new surroundings. Willow could happily live in anything from a residential neighbourhood to a town location and she’d be happy sharing her home with sensible secondary school aged children. Willow finds other dogs worrying and will need adopters who are committed to continuing her training and helping her change how she feels through positive support. While she is friendly meeting people, she takes a little time to form close bonds, but once she does, you'll become one of her favourite people! With time and patience, she'll also be happy welcoming regular visitors into the home. An active girl, Willow will be happiest with a family who enjoy getting out and about before returning home to unwind together. The wonderful Willow is a three year old Trail Hound looking for a patient, understanding family to help her rediscover her confidence. There's something incredibly rewarding about earning Willow's trust. She'll happily wander over to you for a gentle fuss and, although toys aren't really her thing, she's a bright, intelligent girl who absolutely loves learning. Training isn't just fun for Willow, it's one of the ways she builds strong, lasting relationships with the people she loves most. Once she's settled, you'll discover a loyal companion who delights in sharing adventures before curling up in a cosy bed nearby, content just to be close to her favourite humans.

About Willow

What life with Willow looks like

Willow is a young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shoreham in Shoreham by Sea.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Willow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shoreham handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Shoreham will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Willow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shoreham early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
