adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Willy has found his people! His story. Our Willy arrived in his foster home. At first a bit shy and unsettled, he has now developed into an alert, playful, and cuddly male dog. He loves to play and can be a bit overexcited – but he can be easily calmed down. Willy is about 8 months old and stands about 53 cm at the shoulder. He already walks well on a leash and can be handled nicely if he pulls a bit because something impresses him. During dog encounters, Willy is cautious and waits to see what happens – he copes well. When he is called, he seeks protection and safety with his people. Willy reacts reservedly to strangers but warms up. A lot of traffic stresses him a bit, but individual passing vehicles are okay for him. A rural, quiet home would be ideal for him. Children should already be older. A confident single dog could also provide security for Willy, but it is not a must. Willy needs people by his side whom he trusts and who can provide him with security. Then Willy will become a relaxed dog with whom you can do a lot of things and experience a lot. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They “forget” a lot of what they have learned and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent – but loving – in training. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Willy is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He can pack his EU pet passport at any time and move into his new family. Thank you, Tobias! You have given Willy his name and thus an identity. As of: 02.01.

Stand: 02.01.2025

About Willy

What life with Willy looks like

Willy is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Willy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Willy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
