Willy

Mixed Breed · Male

Willy was found on the street and it seems that he had never had a human companion or a safe place before. He arrived at the shelter with a flexi leash attached and a great fear of the unknown, and making contact with humans was something very difficult for him. Over time, thanks to the patience and work of the volunteers, Willy began to make small but important steps. He started to venture out for walks, began to get to know new people, and gradually opened up to relationships. Today, he joyfully greets familiar faces, actively seeks pats, and shows his gentle, sensitive heart. He does very well on walks, loves movement, and enjoys going out together, and special joy comes to him from walks in the forest, even in winter. He walks calmly, sniffs a lot, and makes contact with the caregiver. With other dogs, he usually gets along without a problem, though he can be more cautious in direct interactions. However, he is making clear progress, as evidenced by successful parallel walks with another dog. When he finally trusts, Willy becomes an incredibly sensitive companion. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

PL·Show original

Lubi bliskość, przytulanie i kontakt z człowiekiem. Polubił czesanie i z dumą prezentuje swoje biszkoptowe futerko.

About Willy

What life with Willy looks like

Willy is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Willy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Willy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
