Adopt Wilma

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Wilma – our curious little explorer is looking for her forever home! Wilma is a charming young female dog with an open heart and a social nature. She greets people friendly and openly, gets along excellently with other dogs, and shows herself to be absolutely loving and compatible with cats and children. A true little all-rounder, indeed 💛 At her age, Wilma is already well-adjusted to everyday life: she walks nicely on a leash and enjoys walks where she curiously explores her surroundings. Throughout, she shows herself to be balanced, social, and very people-oriented. Since Wilma is likely to grow bigger – a herding dog mix might be in her – we wish for her a home with ample space. An ideal setting would be a rural environment with a securely fenced garden, where she can move freely and relax. Herding dog mixes often bring special qualities: they are alert, independent, and form a close bond with their family. Wilma will therefore need people who can give her security with calmness, clarity, and loving consistency and accompany her through life with confidence. Of course, Wilma, due to her age, is still at the beginning of her learning journey. Basic commands, housebreaking, and further everyday knowledge can still be reinforced – she brings the best prerequisites and a great learning enthusiasm with her. Wilma is a friendly, social female dog with great potential to be a loyal family companion. Herding dog experience would be nice, but is not a must. Much more important are patience, responsibility, and a big heart. Who will give Wilma a loving home for life?

About Wilma

What life with Wilma looks like

Wilma is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wilma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
