adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Wilma has found her home! Her story: Learn about our Wilma in Bochum – a gentle soul with a big heart, waiting to become part of your family. This charming female dog is not only loving and friendly to other dogs but also a true adaptability genius when it comes to settling into new living conditions. Wilma was allowed to move into her foster home at the end of May and is currently living peacefully and happily with two male dogs and two female dogs. Wilma is house-trained and has already learned to walk on a leash. She is eager to learn and simply a clever mouse. She has also already met cats, rabbits, and chickens. Although Wilma was a little shy at the beginning, she doesn't let that stop her from showing her love and affection in special ways. With each day spent in a safe environment, she blossoms more. She needs a little time and patience, but it will be rewarded – with an unforgettable friendship. She is simply a peaceful and harmonious companion who wants to enjoy life with you. Originally from Zalau, Wilma was found with her five puppies on a field – abandoned, unprotected, and without any perspective. Unfortunately, we had to experience a sad turn shortly after rescue: all the puppies fell ill with parvovirus. Despite intensive medical care, only two of them survived. But the past is now fortunately behind her. Wilma is searching for her forever home where she will be loved and can continue to develop her wonderful qualities. If you feel drawn to her and would like to give this special female dog a loving home, contact us. The sweet snout of Wilma looks forward to meeting you! Wilma is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She has an EU pet passport and can be rehomed after a positive match. Thank you, Dagmar D.! You named Wilma. Status: 31.05.

Vielen Dank an Dagmar D.! Du hast Wilma ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 31.05.2025

About Wilma

What life with Wilma looks like

Wilma is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wilma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
