Adopt Wilma (w)

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Wilma came to the private shelter of Madalina with a few other dogs. She has found a good home there; they are well cared for, receive their food, are medically attended to, and have plenty of interaction. But of course, the best shelter cannot replace its own home. She knows people, so she definitely had a home before, she is people-oriented, friendly, and open. But from her appearance, there is quite a bit of Romanian German Shepherd in her, which means she can sometimes be stubborn and independent. Additionally, she is currently 1.5 years old (born on 10.06.20, and about 50-55 cm tall, weighing 27 kg), in the puppy phase, and has a good size. So, please no first-time dog owners; some experience is needed, and dog training classes or a trainer should be a must. Wilma simply needs a chance that responsible dog owners could give her, to leave the shelter and find a happy home. But this means it could (but doesn’t have to) take a lot of sweat and tears until she becomes the perfect companion. It means a lot of work, both mentally and physically, but you also gain a lot. If you feel up for the challenge, feel free to contact us. A cat test can be done at any time. Wilma will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and will travel with a Mediterranean test and an EU passport. All our dogs come to Nuremberg and should be picked up there. Email:

Email:

About Wilma (w)

What life with Wilma (w) looks like

Wilma (w) is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilma (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilma (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilma (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilma (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wilma (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilma (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilma (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
