Adopt Wilson

Mixed Breed · Male

I am Wilson, the tomcat with the double program. With people I know, I am an absolute snuggle pro, a purring machine with high satisfaction guarantee. I love being stroked, leaning against you, and pretending my whole life is just to lie in your lap. With strangers, however, I am the big Mister Unknown. Then I play the pro at the "I don't know you, please don't touch me" game. I look at you as if you are a very strange object that suddenly stands in my territory. I act as if I have no idea what snuggling is, and I take it personally that you even tried to talk to me. One could say I am a little drama tomcat with a lot of style. But I am not unbeatable. If you come with toys and treats, you will quickly realize that I am actually a normal, lovable tomcat. Toys are my weakness, treats are my kryptonite. Then I become curious, come closer, and show you that I actually only need a little time to realize you are nice. With the right incentive, I will even become more social, and suddenly you are my new favorite person, even though you were a stranger before. I am still quite young and therefore need a partner. A cat that shows me that people are not dangerous would be perfect. Together with another animal, I feel safer and open up faster. I am very compatible and happy about company because life is simply better with someone, and you can laugh about people together. So if you are in the mood for a young tomcat who is a real snuggle pro with people you know but puts on a little show with strangers, then contact the animal shelter. I am ready for a new home where there are toys, treats, and a nice cat friend or a cat buddy. And if you give me some time, you will see that I am the perfect mix of charm, wit, and snuggle quality.

About Wilson

What life with Wilson looks like

Wilson is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marktoberdorf in Marktoberdorf.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marktoberdorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marktoberdorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wilson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marktoberdorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
