Wilson

Male · Young · 2 years

Our beautiful Wilson, not even two years old, was hit by a car and simply left behind to die. He lay there for an estimated two to three days with broken joints until an attentive animal lover found him and brought him to us. We saved Wilson's life with surgery. The fractures affected his nerves. Right now, Wilson has to relearn how to walk, but he is making great progress and shows every day how much will to live he has. Wilson currently lives in a foster home, where he receives daily movement exercises. By now he can walk on all four legs for a good while, but his recovery is not yet complete. Because the nerves were affected, his recovery will still require some time and patience. Wilson is an absolutely people-oriented, affectionate and grateful tomcat, the kind you rarely encounter. He seeks the closeness of his primary caregiver and radiates warmth, love and gratitude every second, with soft purring-like growls, devoted head and chin scratches, and playful behavior despite his limitations. He loves to challenge himself and keeps showing how much joy in life he has. Experience with cats would be a great advantage. Stairs should not be accessible for the time being, so that he can continue to recover in peace. Wilson has been through so much. Now he needs people who give him security, patience and lots of love, and who are willing to give a little more than they would to a "normal" cat. In return, he gives something that is hard to describe in words: a deep, touching bond and a gratitude that moves you every day. For Wilson, we wish for a home in a traffic-calmed location with a cat flap, so that after settling in he can enjoy going outside on his own again. Ideally, until he is fully recovered, Wilson could have outdoor access in a secured area.

DE·Show original

About Wilson

What life with Wilson looks like

Wilson is a large young adult cat waiting at Tierheim Crailsheim in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Crailsheim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Crailsheim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Wilson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Crailsheim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
