Winston

Mixed Breed · Male

Winston is a handsome young French Bulldog looking for a fresh start. Winston is a long-haired French Bulldog with a beautiful blue and tan coat and an affectionate, laid-back personality. He is looking for a loving new home after circumstances beyond his control meant he could no longer stay with his previous family. This lovely boy thrives on attention and enjoys nothing more than being fussed over or having his luxurious coat groomed. Friendly, sociable and eager to make friends, Winston gets on brilliantly with other dogs and has also happily lived alongside a cat. Winston is housetrained and settles well when left for a few hours. He is currently left for up to four hours with no problems and has previously been crated for short periods, where he has always been calm and relaxed. He’s also happy for a dog walker to pop in and let him out. Out on walks, Winston is a friendly boy who loves meeting other dogs. He can get excited and pull towards them to say hello, but he is never reactive or aggressive and will happily move on when given space. His recall isn’t reliable, so he will need to remain on a lead or in secure enclosed areas. Winston is confident with new people and welcomes visitors into the home without any concerns. Although he hasn’t lived with children before, he enjoys their attention when out and about and has never shown any aggression towards people. He has no known medical conditions, including no signs of breathing issues often associated with the breed, and has never bitten or snapped at anyone. Winston has previously shown some guarding behaviour around his crate, but this has not been seen since moving into foster care and is easily managed. Winston is being rehomed because he was living in a home with multiple entire male French Bulldogs, where tensions between the dogs began to escalate. His family made the difficult but responsible decision to remove him from the situation before it affected his happy, friendly nature. He is a wonderful young dog with so much love to give and would thrive in a home where he can enjoy the attention and stability he deserves. Could you be the one to give Winston his second chance? About Winston

What life with Winston looks like

Winston is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Warrington Animal Welfare in Warrington.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Winston, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Winston?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Warrington Animal Welfare handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Winston on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Winston if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Warrington Animal Welfare will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Winston already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Winston isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Warrington Animal Welfare early rather than rehoming privately; they know Winston and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
