adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this dog now! Wit has repeatedly crossed a heavily trafficked street. The risk of being hit or run over was enormous. Additionally, he was completely alone, and his chances of survival were extremely slim due to these circumstances. Wit now has some good fortune and is in a loving foster home nearby. However, he lives outdoors there, and it doesn't replace a home. Wit has very beautiful light fur and cute floppy ears. And despite his young age, he has perfected the "dog look" already. When Wit comes around the corner, no heart remains untouched. Currently, Wit is about 40 cm in size and is expected to reach a medium size. The little foundling puppy is a cheerful and good-natured little guy. He loves nothing more than to run and play with other dogs around. With other dogs, he is top compatible and lives in a mixed pack in his current foster home. He also enjoys playing with toys. Overall, Wit simply delights in receiving attention. Of course, Wit is still at the very beginning of his young life and has much to learn. And if he could do that with his future family, it would be the greatest gift. Anyone considering taking a puppy into their home should be aware of the responsibility involved. Puppies must learn the world and its rules first. In the future, a visit to a positively working dog training class could also be a great enrichment. But whoever decides consciously and is ready to give a little soul like Wit a loving home and empathetic and consistent upbringing will have a loyal companion by their side. Wit travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and has a valid EU pet passport. Even a foster home would be a valuable stepping stone to a happy dog life for Wit. Has the sweet Wit already captured your heart? Then contact us very much. Thank you, Bibi, for this special name. Thanks to you, Wit not only has a name but an identity. As of April 26.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 26.04.2026

About Wit

What life with Wit looks like

Wit is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wit, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wit?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wit on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wit if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wit already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wit isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wit and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
