Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Animal Now! Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Dog Now! There are big dogs—and then there’s Wodan. Standing about 80 cm at the shoulder, he’s an impressive young male dog. Since he’s only just recently found his way to us, we haven’t yet been able to test his compatibility with other dogs. The new environment is still very overwhelming and unfamiliar for this roughly one-year-old male. He’s still very reserved around people and needs more time. Currently, Wodan lives alone in his kennel, a situation that’s far from ideal. Wodan needs encouragement and attention. This handsome male is a livestock guardian dog. These dogs are independent and don’t simply obey commands. They’re loyal, intelligent, and deeply bonded to their humans—but they also have a strong, independent character of their own. We’re looking for experienced people who can provide Wodan with the kind of environment he needs. Especially now, during his puberty, clear and consistent training is crucial. Because if a livestock guardian questions his human’s competence, he’ll take over leadership himself and start making his own decisions. Wodan is looking for people who appreciate his special qualities and give him the chance to settle in peacefully. Experienced and competent owners are a fundamental requirement for Wodan. If you win his heart, you’ll have a loyal and impressive companion by your side. Wodan travels to his new home neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. After a positive preliminary check, he’ll be placed with a protection fee and will of course bring his EU pet passport with him. Maybe you’re the lid to Wodan’s pot? Then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. An experienced foster home would also be extremely valuable for Wodan. Thanks to Andrea M. for giving Wodan such a strong name. We’d also like to sincerely thank you for your monthly sponsorship. As of July 18, 2026 Further information on the topics of preliminary check and protection fee

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Wodan

What life with Wodan looks like

Wodan is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wodan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wodan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wodan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wodan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wodan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wodan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wodan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
