Adopt WOTAN

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

WOTAN – our handsome relaxed Giant Panda Bear – ca. 4 years old, born ca. 2021, SH ca. 65–70 cm, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, EU-Heimtierpass. Waiting in Romania! - Wotan is a picture of a dog! This sympathetic giant was found in the middle of a city in Romania. Children played with him, but he had no owners and no one missed him. So he came to the city shelter. Fortunately, it is run by one of our animal rescuers. From the very first moment, Wotan showed his fantastic character: always relaxed and balanced, social and friendly with other dogs, and very people-oriented. A first excursion to the open field did not unsettle him at all; rather, he was enthusiastic. Even on the leash, he behaved wonderfully, as if he knew how to do it. So far, we can only report nothing but good things about this handsome and relaxed Giant Panda Bear. Now Wotan just needs his own home that shows him how beautiful a dog life in safety can be. Of course, Wotan also needs to learn the basics of the dog ABC. Since he is people-oriented and also quite clever, this should not be a problem. For Wotan, we are looking for a home or a foster home. - Before travel arrangements, a test for Babesiosis, Borreliosis, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis will be conducted. - Wotan is still in Romania.

WOTAN – unser hübscher entspannter Riesenbär - ca.4 J., geb. ca. 2021, SH ca. 65–70 cm, kastriert, geimpft, gechipt, EU-Heimtierpass. Wartet in Rumänien ! - Wotan ist ein Bild von einem Hund! Gefunden wurde dieser sympathische Riese in Rumänien mitten in der Stadt. Kinder spielten mit ihm, aber er hatte keine Besitzer und niemand vermisste ihn. Also kam er ins städtische Shelter.

About WOTAN

What life with WOTAN looks like

WOTAN is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting WOTAN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about WOTAN?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw WOTAN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt WOTAN if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is WOTAN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if WOTAN isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know WOTAN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
