WOTAN – our handsome relaxed giant bear - approx. 5 years, born approx. 2021, SH approx. 65-70 cm, neutered, vaccinated, chipped, EU pet passport. Waiting in Romania! - Wotan is a picture of a dog! This sympathetic giant was found in Romania in the middle of the city. Children played with him, but he had no owners and no one missed him. So he came to the municipal shelter. Luckily, it is one that is supervised by one of our animal rescuers. There Wotan showed his fantastic character from the first moment: always relaxed and balanced, social and friendly in dealing with other dogs and very people-oriented. A first trip to the open area did not unsettle him at all, but rather he was enthusiastic. Even on a leash he ran wonderfully, as if he knew it already. So far we can only report good things about this handsome and relaxed giant bear. Now Wotan just needs a home of his own, which shows him how beautiful a dog's life can be in safety. Of course, Wotan still needs to learn the basic concepts of dog arithmetic. But since he is people-oriented and probably also clever, that should not be a problem. We are looking for a home or a foster home for Wotan. - Before departure, a test for babesiose, borreliosis, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, dirofilariasis and leishmaniasis. - Wotan is still in Romania. - Expenses contribution

WOTAN – unser hübscher entspannter Riesenbär - ca. 5 J., geb. ca. 2021, SH ca. 65–70 cm, kastriert, geimpft, gechipt, EU-Heimtierpass. Wartet in Rumänien ! - Wotan ist ein Bild von einem Hund! Gefunden wurde dieser sympathische Riese in Rumänien mitten in der Stadt. Kinder spielten mit ihm, aber er hatte keine Besitzer und niemand vermisste ihn. Also kam er ins städtische Shelter.

About WOTAN

What life with WOTAN looks like

WOTAN is an extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting WOTAN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about WOTAN?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw WOTAN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt WOTAN if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is WOTAN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if WOTAN isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know WOTAN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
