adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Yeti is an approximately three-year-old male dog who was given up by his owners at our shelter. The trigger was a bite incident with the family's child. Since then, Yeti has been in the shelter in Bistrița and had to learn that people can also be calm, reliable, and predictable. At first, Yeti was very insecure and suspicious. He growled in the kennel and let no one approach him. Our helpers have now been able to work cautiously with him and achieve some progress. Yeti can now be petted and even stroked. Lifting has not been attempted yet to avoid overwhelming him. This development shows that Yeti can build trust if given time and worked with calmly. With other dogs, Yeti shows a much more relaxed demeanor. Here, he is social and oriented towards his fellow animals. A confident only dog could provide additional security for him in his new home, but is not a must. For Yeti, we are looking for a very quiet, experienced home without children. His new people should be aware that he needs time to settle in. A move means stress for him, and he may react insecurely or withdraw at first. Trust must be built up slowly. Pressure, pushing, or quick expectations would overwhelm him. A structured daily routine with clear routines is important. Yeti should be allowed to decide when to allow closeness. Physical contact, petting, or lifting must be built up step by step. Even everyday things like putting on dishes, leading on a leash, vet visits, or grooming should be slowly and positively trained. Since Yeti is likely a Bichon-Mix, regular grooming will be necessary. This must be built up gently so that it does not become a stress situation for him. Here, patience and positive reinforcement are crucial. His future people should have experience with insecure dogs or be willing to learn this. Training with positive reinforcement, clear communication, and a calm approach are especially important for him. Positive working dog training classes or an experienced trainer can be very helpful. Yeti is not a dog that works right away. He needs people who can see small progress, understand setbacks, and accompany him at his own pace. With patience and the right guidance, he can learn to build trust and find security. He has already taken the first steps. Yeti travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas with his EU pet passport to his new home. Even a foster home would greatly help him to make further progress. Who gives Yeti a chance? Many thanks to Mira, who gave Yeti his name and thus the chance at a new beginning. As of: 14.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 30.06.2026

About Yeti

What life with Yeti looks like

Yeti is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yeti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yeti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yeti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yeti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yeti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yeti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yeti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
