adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Ylvi has found her people! Her story: Ylvi means 'little wolf' and her name does justice to the picture-book beautiful husky lady! We know nothing about her background. Currently, Ylvi lives in the public shelter of Bistrita and suffers greatly there. Her breed-specific exercise drive cannot be fulfilled, and she lacks love and attention. Ylvi is about 2 years old and comes with medium size. She has a shoulder height of about 53 cm. Visually, Ylvi scores 100%. With her multi-colored eyes and her perfect husky coat, she is a true eye-catcher. But also her character speaks volumes. She is a very friendly and open female dog, oriented towards people. In the shelter, she gets along well with her fellow animals. Ylvi probably hasn't known a life in a home or an appropriate life in nature. She needs to learn everything and is looking forward to people who take her by the paw and lead her into her new life. Ylvi wants to be physically challenged but also engaged in head and nose work. She is looking for a more rural home, because a husky wouldn't feel comfortable in the city. Due to her breed, we wish for Ylvi people who can challenge her breed-typical and appropriately, and who might even have experience with huskies. Huskies are friendly and gentle creatures who need a lot of exercise in nature. A husky is certainly not a couch potato and would, if under-challenged, take out their frustration on the apartment furnishings. In other words: These are incredibly great dogs who want to be challenged and are balanced great family dogs. Huskies also often show a prey drive. Our Ylvi travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She has an EU pet passport and can be placed with a positive foster home. Could be a springboard into a new life. Husky fan? Infatuated with Ylvi? Then get in touch with us! Many thanks, Susanne! You named Ylvi!

Husky-Fan? Verliebt in Ylvi? Dann meld dich bei uns! Vielen Dank Susanne! Du hast Ylvi ihren Namen geschenkt!

About Ylvi

What life with Ylvi looks like

Ylvi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ylvi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ylvi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ylvi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ylvi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ylvi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ylvi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ylvi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
