Yobi

Mixed Breed · Male

Yobi is a very charming, about ten-year-old (as of 04/2022) Yorkshire Terrier. The friendly heartbreaker had a home with an elderly man who then realized he could not adequately care for his dog. So he gave Yobi to his elderly father, who was also physically unable to take care of an active terrier - and the old man did what people of his generation in Southern Europe have always done, he opened the door in the morning, sent Yobi onto the street, and expected him back in the evening. Hungry and unkempt, the people-friendly male dog wandered through the streets of Linares, and fortunately he had a close circle of friends where he could take short breaks, get water, and sometimes even a meal. One of his contact points informed the volunteers from ArcoNatura about the unacceptable condition, and after a conversation with the owner, Yobi was relocated into the care of our partners. A beautiful dog of his size really has no place in the chaos of traffic, small and friendly, he would have been an easy target for dog catchers as well. Now, if you're only 29cm tall and a male dog, life in the animal shelter can be quite exhausting. Everyone else is bigger, stronger, and what is just a little nudge for a German Shepherd becomes really dangerous for a handful of dogs like Yobi. That's why our small protectees spend more time in the kennel, have less time to play, and cannot directly impress visitors in the run. But Yobi is a kind and content companion, who enjoys not having to take care of himself anymore, appreciates regular meals, and has made friends with many four-legged friends and all volunteers in the short time at the animal shelter. Yobi is surprisingly calm and friendly for a member of his breed. He likes everything and everyone, has respect but no fear, and we wouldn't be surprised if he discovered his playfulness in an active environment and soon chased after a ball with a wonderful blow-dry hairstyle.

DE·Show original

About Yobi

What life with Yobi looks like

Yobi is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yobi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yobi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yobi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yobi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yobi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yobi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yobi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
