Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler)

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 6 years

Stiffler can be shy and reserved around strangers at first and needs a moment to gain trust. However, there are also days when he approaches new people very confidently and curiously from the start and makes direct contact. Once he has met his humans and gained trust, he shows himself to be very affectionate and clingy. Then he can't get enough of his humans, seeks their proximity specifically, and enjoys extensive petting. He also particularly enjoys sitting on someone's lap and enjoying the close contact with his trusted humans. Yoda, on the other hand, is a more shy and cautious cat who needs more time to warm up to new people and trust them. His humans should therefore give him the time he needs and not pressure him. A good way to access Yoda is through joint play sessions, as playing is definitely one of his great passions. He is particularly enthusiastic about the cat fishing game and can get involved in it extensively. Through joint play, you can gradually build up contact with him and gain his trust. Stiffler also gives him additional security and helps him to orient himself in new situations and people. The two get along very well with each other and have developed a close friendship here with us. We can increasingly observe how Stiffler and Yoda lie together or sit together on an elevated resting area and enjoy the view from there. Since the two have now found each other and Yoda particularly benefits from the security that Stiffler gives him, we don't want to separate them anymore. Therefore, Stiffler and Yoda are only placed together. Both cats have already lived as outdoor cats in their previous home and should also enjoy their outdoor time in their future home. We are therefore looking for a home for Stiffler and Yoda in a quiet and traffic-calmed residential area, where they can explore their surroundings as outdoor cats after a suitable acclimatization period. Since Yoda is particularly reserved around strangers and needs time to build trust, we are looking for patient people who give them the time they need to arrive. Children should not live in their new home, as both need a rather quiet environment.

DE·Show original

About Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler)

What life with Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler) looks like

Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler) is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yoda (zusammen mit Stiffler) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
