Yolo

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Born around March 2025, Yolo was a small street cat in the middle of Athens. His life began perilously: he cried desperately at the edge of a busy street, hidden in bushes, until a young couple heard him. They gently caught him and took him to the vet, but they couldn’t keep him themselves. So, he eventually came to our animal rescuer Ioanna. There, he now shows his entire personality: curious, playful, brave, and a true little rascal. He knows no fear – quite the opposite: he lives together with ten cats, big and small, and gets along with all of them. If he’s hungry, he sometimes takes it sportively and steals his roommates’ food right out of their mouths. At the same time, he is very people-oriented: he follows Ioanna step by step and explores everything with boundless energy. Yolo is dewormed and vaccinated. With that, nothing stands in the way of his start in a new life. Now, all that’s missing is the most important thing: his own home, where he will always be welcome – with people who appreciate his energy, his bravery, and his joy for life. Available at cost price 180 Euro (including transport box) Look-animal welfare association Deutschland e.V.

About Yolo

What life with Yolo looks like

Yolo is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Look-Tierschutzverein Deutschland e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yolo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yolo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Look-Tierschutzverein Deutschland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yolo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yolo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Look-Tierschutzverein Deutschland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yolo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yolo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Look-Tierschutzverein Deutschland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yolo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
