Yona (w)

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

YONA, around 5 years old and about 50 cm tall – she is simply a thoroughly wonderful dog!! YONA was found abandoned on a field – like so many. This wonderful female dog with a deep soul had already given up. She was nothing but bones and had accepted her life. Someone discovered her and reported her to the local animal shelters. And with that call, YONA's life began. Dana picked her up immediately from the field and brought her home to fatten her up. YONA, despite everything, gained trust and strength very quickly. Today, she continues to live in Dana's large garden – together with a group of rescued dogs, with whom she gets along well. YONA loves to run through the garden, but by nature, she is a rather quiet female dog. At 50 cm, she has a beautiful size, and at around 5 years old, she has seen a lot in life. She is a fighter – but not at the front, but holds herself back in a ladylike manner. And at the same time, she is a female dog who absorbs every bit of attention and every stroke. YONA does not know life in a house; she doesn't know what "sit" means, but our colleagues on the ground are convinced that she can learn all of this. And she wants to. Even as a second dog, she would be wonderful, because she likes other dogs and, as said, does not have to be in the spotlight. Who gives her the chance at a safe and protected life? She could soon be ready to pack her bags and say goodbye to Romania forever. Yona has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and has traveled to the Mediterranean and EU with a test paper and a passport. She will be rehomed with V. Contact: or on fb. All our dogs travel with official trace papers, and of course, we also have Paragraph 11.

DE·Show original

About Yona (w)

What life with Yona (w) looks like

Yona (w) is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yona (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yona (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yona (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yona (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yona (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yona (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yona (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
