Adopt Yoshi

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Sweet whirlwind who loves asking questions and for whom the muzzle is part of life. Hi everyone! I’m currently living at the animal shelter and am actually quite happy here. In a private home, I find it hard to truly settle in and adjust—that’s why the animal shelter is exactly the right place for me. People say I’m a little “offender”—well, I just have a mind of my own! Here, I can live my life exactly as suits me: a bit wild, a bit chaotic, but always cheerful. You could say I’m the Pumuckl of the shelter: full of mischief, always up for a prank, and constantly trying to make life beautiful for myself. So I can keep enjoying my little never-ending party here, I’m looking for loving sponsors to support me. Every contribution helps make my life here colorful and happy! Many thanks and a hearty woof! Yoshi is sweet! Yoshi can do all obedience exercises. He gets along well with other dogs. Yoshi is cuddly. Yoshi is friendly toward people upon first meeting—as far as appearances go. We are looking for people for Yoshi who WILL LISTEN TO US, BELIEVE WHAT WE TELL THEM, and who are genuinely interested in taking on a dog with lifelong aggression—people ready to put a muzzle on him every morning and take it off again in the evening. People who TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY, who don’t overestimate themselves, and who have no problem—and no fear—even if they do get bitten despite everything and end up needing medical treatment or a hospital visit for their wounds. We will NOT rehome him to “yes-but” people, to those who think love and patience alone will fix everything, or to anyone who generally questions these realities. We know exactly what Yoshi is like, and we also know he’s the only one who has no issue with it. He enjoys challenging his people, deliberately creating situations for that purpose—and finds new ones every single day. He originally came from a good home, was well trained, and received appropriate behavioral training due to his early-onset aggressive behavior. Nevertheless, he remains who he is—and that must be accepted. Anyone with even the slightest doubt is disqualified as a potential adopter. We’re a bit tired of dogs being used as test subjects for people’s own skills or as trial projects. Hence this serious message. If you have genuine interest in this dog and are truly excited about his aggression as well as his witty, provocative personality, we’ll gladly explain everything to you, initiate you into Yoshi’s secrets, and show you how to move forward once you take him home. Prospective dog trainers with common sense, people with extremely clear heads, tough individuals—for example—are among those who would be suitable for Yoshi. LONG-TERM RESIDENT PROFILE Age: October 2017 At animal shelter since: 01.02.2019 Breed: Cockapoo Sex: male, neutered (chip confirmed) Origin: Germany Reason for surrender: multiple biting incidents With cats? No With children? No As a second dog?

About Yoshi

What life with Yoshi looks like

Yoshi is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yoshi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yoshi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yoshi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yoshi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yoshi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yoshi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yoshi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
