Yoshi / Winnie

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Name Yoshi Born November 2025 Gender male dog Breed mixed breed Size is expected to be medium/large (as of end March 2026: 12 kilos) foster home Yoshi has found a wonderful foster home in the Mainz/Wiesbaden area and is welcome to be visited there. The ages given here are often estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. And his three siblings were found by a kind animal welfare colleague alone by the roadside… No sign of their mother. So, they took the little ones in because the temperatures were icy. A few days later, the mother of the four turned up, and Dana brought them to their children. Now they all have a safe place. Unfortunately, Dana will leave Romania again in March 2026 and can't take the family. Therefore, we urgently need foster placements for the five fur noses. All have had their first vaccinations and are generally fit. They are friendly with people and puppy-like playful. Maybe they are looking for a family addition and would be happy to have a responsible home Yoshi made the jump to a foster home and shows himself as a more laid-back representative who is very social in interactions with other dogs. He also really handled his first contact with a toddler well. We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give him a second chance at a responsible home. About Yoshi / Winnie

What life with Yoshi / Winnie looks like

Yoshi / Winnie is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yoshi / Winnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yoshi / Winnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yoshi / Winnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yoshi / Winnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yoshi / Winnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yoshi / Winnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yoshi / Winnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
