Yotta

Female · Adult · 4 years

- Reserved - anxious, shy - cannot be touched - litter-trained - not suitable for solitary living Yotta came to our animal shelter as a confiscated animal. Now, the little feline is looking for a new forever home. Yotta is a reserved and very shy cat who initially shows great caution toward people. At the shelter, she finds the many impressions, noises, and changes overwhelming, often appearing stressed as a result. She needs time, patience, and a calm environment to build trust and feel safe. Currently, Yotta cannot be touched and doesn’t seek close contact with humans. Her future owners should therefore not expect her to be a cuddly lap cat but rather be prepared to respect her boundaries and give her the opportunity to settle in at her own pace. With understanding, patience, and a low-stress environment, she can learn to gain more confidence. Yotta is litter-trained and would love a quiet home without high expectations. Since she is not being placed in solitary housing, there should already be a suitable female cat living in the household, or she will move into her new home together with another cat. Contact with conspecifics is extremely important for her, providing her with orientation and security. From a health perspective, Yotta requires special attention. Due to an eye condition caused by breeding practices, her eyes water to varying degrees. Currently, Yotta is not receiving any treatment for her eyes. Future owners should be aware that this may change in the future—and when it does, the care of her eyes must be reliably taken on and tailored to her specific needs. We are seeking exclusively a home for Yotta where she will live indoors with a secure balcony. This way, she can enjoy fresh air and interesting environmental stimuli. A quiet home with understanding people and a compatible feline companion would be ideal for her. Anyone who gives this sensitive and reserved cat the time she needs and takes joy in witnessing her small progress can offer Yotta the chance for a significantly more relaxed and happier life.

About Yotta

What life with Yotta looks like

Yotta is a large adult cat waiting at Tierheim Hamburg in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yotta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yotta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hamburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yotta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yotta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hamburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yotta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yotta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hamburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yotta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
