Yuma

Labrador Retriever · Female · Young · 2 years

She attaches herself quickly and loves spending time with us. Cuddles, games, walks: she lives for contact and sharing. Always enthusiastic, she can be a bit rough in play, but it's only because she is full of life and love to give. Yuma loves to play with a ball, even though she doesn't return it... she willingly lets you take it directly from her mouth! Full of energy, Yuma needs activities to be comfortable (running, biking, games...) and especially a clear framework to help channel her enthusiasm. A stable routine and firm but kind boundaries will help her thrive. She can play with some dogs, but remains very rough in her interactions, and living with females should be avoided. She will be more fulfilled as the only dog in her home. Yuma is housebroken, calm indoors and already has good basic training: sit, down, come... She learns quickly and likes to please. She is waiting for a gentle, present and active family ready to give her what she has never had: a real home, with love, structure and stability.

About Yuma

What life with Yuma looks like

Yuma is a large young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Sans Collier Provence in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yuma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yuma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Sans Collier Provence handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yuma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yuma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Sans Collier Provence will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yuma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yuma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Sans Collier Provence early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yuma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
