Adopt Yuna

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Our Yuna with our Reese in the garden - Video Our Yuna with Peanut - Video Our Yuna is an initially rather reserved female dog who needs time to build trust. Once she overcomes this hurdle, she becomes happy, playful, and full of energy. With her trusted people, she is very cuddly and enjoys closeness as well as shared time. Yuna is energetic, loves to run, and is motivated to walk, already knowing some basic commands. Her lead manners are good, although she may occasionally pull with excitement. She remains approachable and can be guided. She is attentive, intelligent, and seeks orientation from people. In dealing with environmental stimuli, Yuna shows composure: joggers and walkers are observed calmly and with interest. With other dogs, she is curious and friendly. In her previous home, she lived harmoniously with a male dog (Tidus) and a female dog (Rikku). In response to strangers, especially in closed spaces or tight situations and particularly to men, Yuna initially reacts with insecurity and barking. In such moments, she shows her insecurity more through forward behavior rather than retreating, making a calm, clear, and forward guidance particularly important. With appropriate accompaniment, she can be led through these situations. Even in new or unfamiliar situations, Yuna needs guidance and the security of her primary caregiver, but masters them well with support. A topic to be mindful of with Yuna is her tendency towards resource guarding, for example, at her resting place or food. In her previous home, she did not display this behavior; it seems to intensify in stressful situations. Careful handling, clear communication, reading her body language, and setting friendly boundaries are particularly important here. For families with small children, Yuna is not a good fit. We wish for her a quiet home with clear rules and a relatively disturbance-free environment. Yuna is looking for people who give her security, structure, and loving consequences and enjoy exploring the world together with her.

About Yuna

What life with Yuna looks like

Yuna is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Kreistierheim Böblingen in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yuna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yuna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kreistierheim Böblingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yuna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yuna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kreistierheim Böblingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yuna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yuna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kreistierheim Böblingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yuna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
