Zack

Male · Young · 3 years

Zack is a wonderful boy who is full of cheeky character! He loves playing with toys and he doesn't let his disability hold him back, whilst he can tire quickly he loves winding down with fun enrichment such as snuffle mats and dig boxes. With the support of his carers he's learning to make better decisions when he's feeling overwhelmed and has come on leaps and bounds during his time with us. If you think you have the patience to offer Zack the love and support he needs, get in touch with our team today! Zack is a handsome three-year-old Lurcher searching for his paw-fect forever home. He has spent most of his life in a home, so adjusting to centre life has understandably been a little overwhelming. Over time, he’s built strong bonds with his carers and looks to his trusted human friends for reassurance and guidance. Zack has previously been housetrained and is comfortable being left alone for up to five hours, as long as he has a safe, cosy spot to relax in. He’s looking for patient, understanding adult-only adopters who can help him continue to settle and grow in confidence. Zack can find meeting new people a bit overwhelming, so he would prefer a calm home with minimal visitors. He loves his crate, which serves as his safe haven when he’s feeling anxious, often retreating there with his favourite toys. Zack will need direct access to his own secure garden where he can play and explore safely. Even with three legs, he still enjoys zooming around at impressive speeds! Quieter walking areas would suit him best, and he’ll need to be the only pet in the home. Zack wears a muzzle on walks as he’s not comfortable with other dogs in his space, but he happily associates it with fun adventures and is always willing to pop it on to explore new places. He also travels well in the car, making trips to peaceful walking spots an enjoyable experience for him.

About Zack

What life with Zack looks like

Zack is a large young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
